I read "In From the Cold" based on a friends recommendation. I down loaded the book to my Kindle Apps on my IPAD and began reading while on a flight with my wife. I started laughing and laughing, reading passages to my wife, while a few other passengers were smiling - I assume they liked what I was reading to my wife. Anyway, I couldn't put the book down and, then, like being hit in the head with a brick, I told my wife that this book had been written about my life long friend, Lee Finstad, a lawyer living in Grand Forks ND. Now, I know, David Bliss has never met Lee Finstad but he sure hit a home run with his first book. I enjoyed David's dry sense of humor, Robert Ludlum sense of drama and of course the detailed, grand views of the Alaskan wilderness. My son serves in the Coast Guard, stationed in Dutch Harbor Ak, and I have visited Alaska many times as an Army helicopter pilot and do greatly appreciate David Bliss' detailed explanations of the flying conditions and unique life styles of those hardy Alaskan natives and "migrants" from the lower 48 who now call Alaska home. More importantly than all of the above, Mr. Bliss should quit his law practice and devote himself to a full-time career of writing - but first contact Lee Finstad for some of his great "war stories" of life and weave them into another novel. David anyone can be a lawyer but few have the writing talent you have - change careers and make a lot of people laugh!!!Product details

Very good book! Mystery, comedy and romance. It kept my interest and I hated to put it down. The main character is a lawyer with a droll sense of humor who doesn't care about a dressing stylishly. But he's loyal to his clients and ends up going to Alaska to search for his wealthy friend, who has disappeared. A wonderful plot and good characters.
This book manages to be funny and serious at the same time--and without forcing the link. His hapless hero is appealing and shows a strong consistent psychological development throughout the story. So many main characters are flat and don't have a learning curve, but this one takes you along on his journey to new understanding, with lots of laughs along the way. The humor is dry and subtle and sometimes sneaks up on you...you're giggling before you know it. The dialogue between characters is particularly good...it sounds real, never contrived. While the book is full of off beat characters, they are all drawn convincingly and with a tender touch.
The book arrived within a week of ordering and was in excellent condition. It is a very good, entertaining book to read. I was able to meet and visit with the author shortly after reading the book. He is from the same general area of the state, we attended the same high school(not the same years as he is younger) but he did know some of my relatives, so it was a fun but short visit.
This author accomplishes what few authors can do. This book can be discribed as an action, mystery, drama, comedy, romance and cliff hanger. Do not miss it. The twists and turns to the plot are remarkable. The main character and hero is a lawyer who is slighlty overweight, color blind but attractive. He has an acid tongue, wit and a fierce loyalty to his rightous clients. His loyalty takes him to Alaska where he begins his search for a lost Millionire who has disappeared under suspicious circumstances. The plot is thick with memorable characters and some of them are very sexy. This review cannot do the book justice. You need to read it yourself.
